This study discusses the potential of using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to read ancient Arabic manuscripts, and its role in simulating the textual editor’s task of transcribing manuscripts into digitally manageable formats. The Study also aims to identify the challenges in using this technology. The study employed a descriptive approach to introduce Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, provide an overview of the Sotoor program, highlight the features of Arabic manuscript verification, and address the key challenges faced by experts in this field. Additionally, an experimental approach was adopted through two trials to evaluate the efficiency of the Sotoor program and compare its results with those of two other programs. The Study concluded by outlining the disparities in accuracy levels among the three programs, showcasing the overall advancements in this technology, and encouraging its adoption for the electronic reading and transcription of manuscripts.Downloads
