Bringing the lingual question into discussion requires the consideration of a range of associated topics and the elucidation of the relationships binding them together. Such topics include multilingualism, diglossia, the universal language, the mother tongue, the national language, foreign languages, cultural security, identity, and national unity, among others. These issues are inseparably interwoven , and discussing one inevitably requires addressing the others. However, due to the difficulty of covering all these topics in a single article, this study focuses on the importance of the universal language in achieving cultural security in the Arab world, while benefiting from insights provided by related topics to the extent allowed by the proposed theme.Downloads
